Women kickboxing in Westchase Tampa
With the fitness explosion in full tilt for both men and women over the last 20 plus years it’s no surprise that kickboxing is enjoying increased attention. With almost every gym in creation offering some type of cardio kickboxing class and martial arts schools that specialize in the striking arts popping up every other block you might wonder what is the big draw.
Besides being an all encompassing workout you can learn self defense and have fun at all the same time. I like to call this a three dimensional workout. Not only is it a three dimensional workout but you can take lessons you learn with you to elevate every aspect of your life. What am I talking about as far as elevating every aspect of your life. First thing is what I call grit or a non quitting spirit. Grit is what it takes to put a hundred percent of yourself into every workout. Outside the gym we all have everyday obstacles we have to overcome and this non quitting spirit is going to be needed at one time or another. The confidence built by learning skills will come in handy in dealing with people in social settings. Let’s not forget how self defense can come in handy when you least expect it.
A great kickboxing workout tends to be high paced and exciting every time you train. If you are at a good kickboxing gym you will be consistently learning new skills and moves which will never leave you bored.
So, why are so many women training in martial arts especially kickboxing?
First and foremost is the self defense aspect of martial arts. We learn how to use every part of the body as a weapon. Feet, shins, knees, elbows and fists. Different ranges of defense will be learned. Close range self defense if an attacker grabs hold of you is studied as well as mid and long range strategies. Women’s legs are up to seven times stronger than a mans arms which makes for great self defense weapons.
The second most popular reason would be the fitness aspects of kickboxing.
When we punch the arms are worked as well as the chest and back muscles. Many repetitions will develop firm strong lean muscle in those areas. Your legs and core will be worked with all of the different types of kicks learned. Between punching and kicking mitts and pads the most important muscle in your body will be worked your heart. Cardiovascular conditioning is probably the most important aspect of a good kickboxing class.
One of the most overlooked aspects of working out out is getting a good stretch every time you train. We stretch to increase target range for our kicks, increase agility and prevent injury.
All of these reasons make kickboxing a great choice for women in the Tampa Westchase area.
